Dealing with mental illness is scary. I would know the
feeling way to well. You may feel alone, or that no one can relate. I am here
to tell you that this blog is dedicated for people like you and me. Yes, I have
a mental illness and the steps I took was not only scary, but it has and still
is a journey that I am going through. This blog is to help you also relate your
stories to me, and I share mines as well. I just want you to know that this
blog should not be used to replace physicians, medications, or therapy that
could possibly help you along the way. This blog is to create a platform, so we
can walk through this journey together.
Getting help should always be the first step when dealing
with mental illness. You should make sure that you find a professional
physician comfortable enough to talk about the things that you are going
through. Therapy, is also another step that can help you understand your
condition a little better. I took the measurements to help me become a
healthier person.
If you have supportive friends and family, you should also open
up to them about how you are feeling and what is it you are going through. Even
if you feel that you may not know anyone like this, you can also join groups on
social media, or search local groups in your area this can also be a form of
support.
There may be those rather it be friends or family that may
oppose of you getting proper treatment for yourself. I say take their advice
with a grain of salt (don’t take it too seriously). If they have never had to
worry about a mental illness than they would not understand your personal
struggle. You must do what is best for you, and this will help lead to a
healthier life.
